Scotty to Appear on Grand Ole Opry October 11
On October 11th Scotty will appear at the Mother Church of country music the Grand Ole Opry once again!. He'll be joined by Dierks Bentley,Sara Evans, Eric Church,and Montgomery Gentry. That night Mr. McCreery will most likely be performing new songs for the first time!

Scotty McCreery's BRAND NEW single is "The Trouble With Girls". It's a tune written by Chris Tompkins (Before He Cheats) and Phillip White ("I'm Movin On"-Rascal Flatts). "The Trouble With Girls" is a ballad with a twist.
The trouble with girls is they’re a mystery /
Something about them puzzles me /
Spent my whole life trying to figure out /
Just what them girls are all about,”
McCreery sings over a delicate piano to begin the song. There’s confidence and maturity beyond his experience as he never over sings the moment. Too often a new singer sounds like he or she is begging, but there isn’t an ounce of desperation in anything McCreery has released thus far.
The chorus goes,

Keith Urban pitched song to Scotty
Keith Urban pitched a song from back when he was with a band named The Ranch. Scotty said that Keith may play guitar on the track but they don't know if that will happen because Urban is currently on tour right now.

"It's not going to be poppy. That's one thing we stayed away from. I grew up with old-school stuff, so I didn't want to stray completely away from that.We've got the rocker songs, the up-tempo stuff. It’s always such a whirlwind for “American Idol’’ winners. Do you even remember winning at this point?
A. I remember back to it. It’s all still a blur. It was definitely an intense moment, that pause that [host] Ryan [Seacrest] makes before he announces it.
Q. ABC followed you and runner-up and fellow country singer Lauren Alaina around as you all participated at the recent CMA Fest. Do you feel like it’s been beneficial to navigate the post- “Idol’’ mania with someone else who understands what you’re going through?
A. It’s got its pros and its cons. We’re both country and we’re both doing this together, so it’s a cool little thing. But we both want to be looked at as individual artists, and we talked to our managers about not making us look like the next Conway [Twitty] and Loretta [Lynn]. But it is fun to get to do this together, so it’s all good.
Q. It seems like it’s all coming very naturally to you. Does it feel that way? Are you surprised that people commented that you made it seem effortless on the show?
A. Definitely. When I was growing up I was always the guy who played with his guitar and stood in one place and was scared to move anywhere else, so I think “American Idol’’ kind of broke me of that. As the weeks progressed, I got more comfortable moving around and acting a fool and entertaining the crowd, so it’s definitely something that I think I picked up the last few weeks of the show and doing more things like CMA Fest or live TV or the arena tour we’re doing right now. I’ve got a lot more to learn. I’m young.
Q. I’ll confess that I’m glad someone finally persuaded you to hold the microphone straight.
A. Oh, I know [laughs]. I don’t know what the heck that was. I think it’s just because I’m used to pitching, and that’s how I hold the ball in the glove with the limp wrist in the glove. I never held a mike before “American Idol.’’ I just had my mike stand with my guitar. So I think it naturally happened like that and then naturally changed back to normal to where I didn’t look like a fool.
Q. Are you doing any covers on the album, or is it all originals?
A. It’s going to be all originals. There’s technically going to be one cover. Keith Urban pitched a song my way, and it’s one he did way back when he was part of the band called the Ranch. He’s on tour right now so we don’t know, but he said he might play guitar on the track.
Q. The Nashville music community can be a little resistant to artists they perceive as not having paid their dues or taking a reality show “shortcut.’’ Some radio programmers said they wouldn’t be interested in playing your songs. How has the reception been since you won?
A. When I went to Nashville for CMA Fest, that was one of the things I was worried about, meeting those guys and knowing that I’m just 17 and I didn’t grow up playing honky tonks for 15 years and paying my dues. That’s something that I know I have to do now. I have to go out there and work hard and try to stick around. It’s not going to be handed to me. It’s definitely something I’ve got to work for, but they’ve been great to me.
Q. You’re a fan of classic country, so will “Clear as Day’’ be more like that or will it have a contemporary pop country bent?

Scotty Goes Back to School

Students everywhere are getting ready to head back to school, including recent “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery. Being in the spotlight might have gained Scotty fame and fortune, but it won’t help get him out of his school work! Scotty is about to begin his senior year of high school and his mom will be teaching him out on the road.
“School is starting up pretty soon, so I am going to have to get everything in order,” Scotty tells Dan Van Media. “You know Mama is a certified K through 12 teacher so she is going to be teaching me on the road and I can promise you she ain’t going to be giving me no slack!”
“Miss McCreery was a mean teacher back in the day,” Scotty joked. “Nah, she likes that rep but she was nice…so she’ll be on me!”
Mama McCreery was present during the conversation and refuted the ‘mean’ comment but did confirm that
“Scotty will need to buckle down for school.” Mama McCreery also confirmed with Dan Van Media that the family will stay in North Carolina and will not be moving to Nashville saying “Nashville is only a one hour flight, we will make that work.”
Scotty has started the process of school and will really concentrate on his studies as the “American Idols Live” tour wraps on September 10th, followed by some more free time for school after his debut album Clear As Day releases on October 4th.

The last winning moment, the crowning of McCreery, prodded the audience to their feet. The biggest plus to this concert was that each set was a breath of fresh air, and McCreery was no exception. A country boy at heart, he began his set with "Your Man" by Josh Turner, which has come to be McCreery's staple song. From "Baby, lock them doors and turn the lights down low," the crowd was overtaken with unbridled and explosive fandom. More Details on Wildflower

Lauren will be releasing Wildflower on October 11th and says that "I've always dreamed of making an album and I can't believe it's actually happening. It's because of the fans who voted for me on American Idol that I am here, so I am dedicating this album to them. I hope they love it."
Lauren recored the album in Nashville and in other recording studio around the country during the American Idol tour.
As for the sound of the album she says,"I feel like it has a flavor for everybody.It's a mixture of all different songs , so I hope it will appeal to all different kinds of people. There are fast songs for people who like up-tempos that you can dance to,and there are also tearjerkers for people who like slower ballads. I tried to get songs that are all a little different so that we could bring a fresh feel to each and every song."

"I chose these songs because they mean a lot to me, but I think everybody can relate to these kind of songs." Scotty's producer Mark Bright says that his fans will be impressed with his debut because "his voice is shockingly great. Everybody knows Scotty has a deep voice but what a lot of people don't know is that he has a pretty high range. His listeners will get to hear the nuances,emotions and actual range of his voice." Some of Nashville's top songwriters contributed to this project and that is unheard of for a new artist.

For "American Idol" winner Scotty McCreery, the pressure of doing an arena show is nothing compared to the week-in and week-out grind of the reality competition.
"This tour is just about having fun and going out and singing for the fans," says McCreery, who appears Saturday, Aug. 13, as part of the American Idols Live! show at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Joining McCreery are the rest of the Top 11 from the last season of the Fox juggernaut, including runner up Lauren Alaina and top rivals James Durbin, Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk.
McCreery, a deep-voiced 17 year old from Garner, N.C., is more the exception than the rule among "Idol" champions:
He's the second youngest performer to take the title, and the first male country winner.
Ahead of making his A.C. debut, McCreery talks about the thrill of winning the crown, his career idol and how he doesn't aim to become the "Country Bieber."
Question: One of the perks of being the "Idol" winner is closing the touring version of the show. Do you have a certain ritual before you go on?
Answer: I get the chance to go out there and hide behind the bleachers and watch the rest of the show. I get dressed real quick, and head out to sing.
Q: How are you handling being in the new "Idol" spotlight?
A: It's definitely been the experience of a lifetime. It was definitely a pressure cooker, but I made memories I'll never forget and friends I'll have for a lifetime. I'm fortunate to be able to experience it.
Q: What surprised you the most about actually being on the show vs. watching it from home?
A: When you watch the show from home, you don't see the seven days a week (part), working all hours of the day. It's definitely a lot of work.
Q: Looking back, can you see a turning point in your favor?
A: It was definitely a week-to-week thing. I just remember, the Top Five, I had just moved into an apartment, and I said I want to sing this thing. I tried to kick it in gear with 'Gone.' From that moment, I was trying to go full steam ahead.
Q: Speaking of next steps, what kind of record are you planning for your Mercury Nashville debut?
A: It's definitely material that relates to me. What you saw on the show is what you get. I'm just Scotty - being a normal kid.
The album will have a lot of songs that will make you cry, and a lot of songs that will make you dance.
Q: Who are your career idols?
A: There's never been a teenage country music singer who's a male. It's going to be a new thing for me - a new formula. There's definitely a lot of people I look up to, that I hope my career would be somewhat like. People talk about me and Josh Turner. I look up to him mainly because of his lifestyle. His career is skyrocketing, but he's a nice, Christian guy, and has good values. Hopefully, I can stick to my guns throughout this whole process.
Q: Some Idols, especially the male winners, have struggled to really get their careers going. What's your long-term strategy?
A: I just want to have a nice career. I'm not looking to be a huge superstar or the next Justin Bieber. I'm looking to make good music, and have a good life out of all of this.

Lauren Alaina "Wildflower" In Stores October 11
Lauren's debut album titled Wildflower will hit a store near you on October 11th. Lauren says that she says she named the album "Wildflower" because she's sweet and has a little spunk just like the flower. She also recorded a song on the album called "She's A Wildflower" which was written by Steve McEwan, Hilary Lindsey,and Gordie Sampson.

Lauren Alaina once told an interviewer that she wanted to perform at the Grand Ole Opry by the time she was 16. "You’ve got high hopes," she was told. As it turns out, she hadn’t begun to envision all that was in store for her before entering her junior year in high school.
She was the runner-up on Season 10 of American Idol, where her strong vocal performances earned comparisons to the genre’s premier vocalists, Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride. In January, The New York Times called her "the best singer so far this season." A record-breaking 122.4 million votes were cast for Lauren and Idol winner Scotty McCreery. The final show garnered 29.3 million viewers and 38.6 million people tuned in to see the winner’s name announced.
Soon after, she made her much-anticipated Opry debut to sing her debut hit, "Like My Mother Does." "I dreamed since I was a kid of being on that stage because my daddy grew up playing the banjo and he’s really good at it," she says. "He always wanted me to perform at the Grand Ole Opry because he never got the chance. When I was little, he told me he wanted me to perform there and it would be as good as him getting to, and he was there. I need someone to pinch me because it was just the way it was supposed to be."
But she barely had time to reflect on her accomplishment because the achievements are coming fast and furious. Last summer, she was a cheerleader and pizza parlor employee. This summer, she signed a record deal with Mercury Nashville/19 Recordings/Interscope and joined Martina McBride in a duet of "Anyway" at LP Field during CMA Music Fest. She’s started recording her debut album and is now on the American Idols Live tour, which travels across the nation through September.
Although the venues and audience sizes have drastically changed in the last year, she’s still doing what she’s always done--singing for anyone who would listen whenever she got the chance.
She was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and raised in nearby Rossville, Ga., by her father, J.J., a chemical technician, and mother, Kristy, a transcriptionist. It was a musical household because her mother and older brother, Tyler, sang and her father is a multi-instrumentalist. Her parents played country and rock music in the house and Lauren found that she favored music – adult songs, not those made for children -- to television and was especially drawn to Shania Twain, Aerosmith and the Dixie Chicks.

While Scotty McCreery is learning about American history, the 17-year-old country singer is also busy making some of his own.
In May, he won Season Ten of American Idol, becoming the youngest male winner in the show’s nine-year history. A record-breaking 122.4 million votes were cast for Scotty and runner-up Lauren Alaina. The final show garnered 29.3 million viewers and 38.6 million people tuned in to see the winner’s name announced.
A week later, he made country music history when his debut single, "I Love You This Big," earned the highest debut for a new artist’s first single on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart since at least 1984. The song, which hit the Top 20 in seven weeks, is one of the fastest-rising debut singles for a new country artist in history.
He’s recording his debut album for Mercury Nashville/19 Recordings/Interscope. He recently made his Grand Ole Opry debut and performed with Josh Turner at Nashville’s LP Field during CMA Music Fest.
He’s performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the Today show. He is currently performing through September with the American Idols Live tour.
"I’ve always dreamed of having a career in country music," Scotty says. "I just never thought it could happen.
I had never really given myself a chance. Idol gave me the chance and I ran with it. I’m having a good time with it. It’s what I wanted to do and I’m making a career out of it."
His debut single, "I Love You This Big," was not only the perfect single to perform for American Idol’s finale moment, but it was a wonderful way to launch his country career. "It just thanks everybody," he says.
"You can take it to the fans, to my family or my savior Christ-- ‘I love you this big.’ There are so many ways you can interpret this song, and that’s why I loved it so much, because anyone can relate to it. It fits me well and I hope I’ll be singing it for 30 years."
Scotty’s debut album will offer the best of both worlds – traditional country with a contemporary flavor. "My music is obviously country and it has some old influences in it," he says. "I grew up with Hank Williams and Conway Twitty. I listened to other artists like Tim McGraw and Josh Turner too, but I love a contemporary feel with an old soul in it."
And that’s exactly how his producer, Mark Bright, describes him. "He is an old soul. It is an incredible thing, that someone that age fully understands what is before him and is completely unaffected by that. I have never seen anything like it in my life. He loves it and he understands the opportunity he’s been given and he wants to work, work, work to take advantage of that opportunity."

Scotty Doesn't See Acting in His Future
"I don’t know if I will pull a Tim McGraw or not,” Scotty said. “I’m going to stick with country.” Fans across the nation have adored Scotty since he was first seen on American Idol, so it makes sense that he wants to stick to what he knows best, for now anyway."
And has that money been burning a hole in his pocket?
Although he has had an incredible rise to success, he still loves the simple things he did when he was growing up. Once he returned from the West Coast, he made it a point to stop at Bojangles, a local fast food restaurant. He also spoke about his appreciation of sweet tea. So far, he’s been able to keeep his feet planted firmly on the ground. “I haven’t gone out and bought a gold chain 24-carat or anything. I’m still eatin’ off the dollar menu.

Scotty McCreery Looking for A "Hometown Girl"
American Idol winner Scotty McCreery has had the year of a lifetime, including a jam-packed summer that has brought him the opportunity to perform with one of his musical role models and hitting the road with his fellow Idol contestants.
On August 14, the refreshingly polite and down-to-earth teen can be seen on the ABC special CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock (8 p.m. ET) alongside Josh Turner. “It was pretty wild,” McCreery says of the experience. “Especially walking out there and hearing the screams. Looking out and seeing a sea of people. It's definitely something I will never forget.”
As for Turner, McCreery says the country star has been like his musical godfather. “I've met so many different people, but I definitely have to say that someone whose been the greatest to me so far has been Josh Turner,” McCreery adds. “He's just been a great guy to talk to and we've emailed. He's just been giving me a lot of good advice. It's just been great to have him there.”
McCreery talked to PARADE about his whirlwind year, his dream girl, and what the American Idol tour bus is really like.
How do you amp yourself up to perform every night?
“It's definitely the feeling of knowing it's a different crowd every night. You try to get the best reaction from them and it's just a lot of fun to go out there and sing for them. We're playing in arenas which is a big step up from the coffee shops I'm used to playing at home. It's definitely a lot of fun.”
What's the biggest change in your life post-Idol?
“It's definitely still my normal lifestyle. I'm a pretty average kid. I'm just a normal teenager doing normal stuff. Going out to eat, trying to hang out with the boys back home. It's tougher for me to do that now and it's tougher for me to keep up with them back home or doing anything without having to stop and take pictures. But that's all part of the job description, so it's alright.”
Are you dating at the moment? “Dating has kind of been on the backburner for me. I haven't really had time to think about that with this whole tour thing. But it's definitely going to be tough and I've told many people that I'm not looking to go out there and find the most beautiful girl in the world who likes me because I'm Mr. American Idol Scott McCreery. If I could just find a nice hometown girl who just likes me for who I am, that's all I want.”
You're going into your senior year. Are you going back to school?
“Yeah, that's definitely something we're looking at. Hopefully, we'll get this album out quick enough to allow me to go back to school. Even if it's two or three days a week. Just to go back to school and have as normal as possible a life. It's never going to be normal again, but I want to make the memories that every 18-year old has of their senior year and not totally miss that point in my life.”

“Oh, I know, I know! And high school football games and homecoming. You can't miss that stuff.”
What have you learned from performing with a pro like Josh Turner?
“You always look at the professionals and the people who have done it countless times. Just to pick up on certain things and learn more about stage presence and interacting with the crowd. I'm still young, I still have a lot to learn. I'm definitely trying to pick up as much as possible from everybody that I meet because they know a lot more about this little gig than I do.”
What's the best piece of advice you've gotten so far? “Don't change, stay in your lane. Be who you are and don't let Nashville or Hollywood get to your head. Stay grounded, stay me. The minute I get a big head and start acting like the big man on campus, it's all downhill from there.”
How do you keep grounded?
“I was raised that way. I'm out here with mama, too, so the minute I start acting like a big guy, she'll be there to keep me grounded and stay in my shoes. For me, it's just humbling to be here and I keep going to the fact that I was bagging groceries not too long ago. This is definitely a big leap for me and I'm going to make the most of it.”
Do you have a theme to your album yet?
“We haven't sat down and talked about it, but naturally I think it's been the small town kind of thing that middle America can relate to. It talks a lot about the normal life. High school life and country life. Stuff that a lot of people like to hear and need to hear.”
Is it a prank-filled environment on the Idol tour buses?
“It's definitely fun. We're all guys so we have the same sense of humor. The pranks are coming into full force and we're making music out there, writing songs. We watch movies. We're having a good time on the bus.”
Any plans to throw Paul [McDonald] an Idol bachelor party before you separate in the fall?
“Oh right! I know, I know. We haven't thought about that!”
The tour is going overseas soon. Is this the biggest trip you've taken? “It's a huge trip for me. I've gone over the pond once before, but this is going to be an 18-hour plane ride, so it's going to be huge. We're definitely looking forward to going out to the Philippines and having a good time out there. They've gone on Twitter and have been saying how excited they are so we're looking forward to it.”
Who is your dream duet partner?
“Maybe someone classic like Loretta Lynne. That would be really fun. I was watching some of her videos on YouTube from the Grand Ole Opry yesterday before the show. She's definitely a legend.”

Scotty on Filming his First Music Video
“He was the guy who shot all of our music videos for the Ford commercials for American Idol,” Scotty says. “It was great because I already knew him and we had a good relationship.”
The video was shot in an area called Angels Point. “The location for the shoot was really cool,” he says.
“If you looked one way, you could see Dodger Stadium, and if you looked another way, you could see downtown L.A.”
“We found this park that had a little country feel to it and it all worked out,” he says. “If I hadn’t told you that, you would think we would have shot that in North Carolina. The music video has a summertime barbecue feel, like a July Fourth party with fireworks and hot dogs and families.”
After the shoot ended, Scotty spent time with all of the video’s cast members of all ages. “They were there the whole day and helped me out in the video,” he says. “They’re going to be in my first video, so I thought it was important to thank them for being there.”

Scotty "WOWS" Music City
Baby, lock them doors ...
Tonight's an important one for Scotty McCreery. He's not only performing for the 12,000 or people who bought tickets to the show, but he's also showing members of the country music industry and media how well he can hold a crowd. They're listening to how he sings, they're seeing what kind of presence he has, they're gauging his performance and his potential in a room where they've watched the biggest singers in the genre, from Garth Brooks to Taylor Swift. For better or worse, he'll have a reputation in the country music industry after tonight, and it'll be a hard one to shake. The significance of the show wasn't lost on Scotty this afternoon as he did a round of interviews.
Make no mistake: This is Scotty's audience. The people in the crowd may like other performers, they might cheer and scream for them, but the 17-year-old from North Carolina's the one that got them to the box office.
And he doesn't disappoint. The crowd is with him for every word, every gesture.
"What's going on, Music City?" he says after Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not? "Y'all were probably wondering if I was ever going to make it out here," he says, noting that he's been watching the show from beneath the bleachers the whole time.
Some of the audience sits for Scotty's single, I Love You This Big, but the rests between the lines are punctuated with the shouts of young girls. Scotty sounds like he's growing into the song, too. he hasn't always been spot-on singing this song, but this performance is one of the stronger ones I've heard from him.
